Jamil Scott will be joining the Department of Government at Georgetown University as a tenure track assistant professor in Fall 2018. She will be contributing to the American politics subfield through her research and teaching interests in race and ethnicity politics. Jamil will be graduating from the PhD program in Spring 2018. Her dissertation examines the relationship between candidate training programs and representational outcomes at the state level with a specific focus on women and minorities. Jamil was an active participant in the Graduate Student Association within the department, having served in multiple leadership roles, and has been an active member in the Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate at MSU since 2013.
