Dr. Mark A. Menaldo Receives Award

Recent MSU Ph.D. in Political Science, Dr. Mark A. Menaldo, has been
named the recipient of the 2011 Jablin Dissertation Award from the
International Leadership Association (ILA).
He received his Ph.D. in
Political Science in 2010 from Michigan State University. His
dissertation advisors were Professors Steven Kautz and Michael
Colaresi. His undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Sociology is
from Colorado College. He is now a faculty member at Texas A&M
International University (TAMIU).
Dr. Menaldo, an assistant professor in TAMIU's department of social
sciences, won the prestigious award for his paper, "Putting
Statesmanship Back Into Statecraft: The Role of Transformative
Ambition in International Relations." The dissertation award honors
scholars from a range of academic disciplines who have explored and
written on topics that demonstrate substantial insights and
implications for leadership studies.
The award includes a prize from the Jepson School of Leadership
Studies, University of Richmond, and travel to the annual ILA
Conference (in October in London, England), where Dr. Menaldo will
present the work for which he received this award.
