Sapotichne, Joshua

Joshua Sapotichne is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University. Sapotichne joined the faculty in 2009. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 2009.

Sapotichne undertakes research on public policy processes and urban politics and policy. His current research projects address the evolving scope and nature of the national urban policy agenda and the role of agenda-setting processes in urban political institutions. Prior research addressed the interplay of issue focus and interest group alignments in fostering policy coherence and the notion of "widespread policy disruption" across a multitude of policymaking sectors-specifically the degree to which the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 disrupted policymaking across a variety of public risk sectors and the consequence of these disturbances vis-à-vis the design of coherent homeland security policy. These projects have resulted in a series of journal articles.

Sapotichne's teaching includes graduate seminars in policy processes and undergraduate courses in policy processes and American politics.
