W.B. Allen

W. B. Allen is Professor of Political Science, with teaching and research interests in: political philosophy, American government, and jurisprudence. He has recently served in the Department as Interim Director, Program in Public Policy and Administration and currently chairs the University Working Group for the Improvement of Undergraduate Education. He is also a Fulbright Senior Fellow.

In previous appointments Prof. Allen served as Director, State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (1998-99); Dean and Professor, James Madison College, Michigan State University (1993 - 1998); Professor of Government, Harvey Mudd College, 1972-94; Chairman, United States Commission on Civil Rights (1988 - 1989) and Member (1987-1992); and Member, National Council on the Humanities (1984-1987).
