Crothers, Brian

Brian comes to MSU as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force with 15 years active duty service. He was an instructor and Director of Staff, Department of International Security and Military Studies at the Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell AFB. He taught national security studies, warfare studies, and regional studies to top rated US majors and international officers. He will return to the school house as an associate professor of national security studies upon earning his degree. He has held other leadership positions as a Chief Engineer and twice as a Flight Commander. His tours of duty include working in space operations, electronic warfare, test and evaluation and human factors studies. Brian earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology (1999) and his bachelors from the Virginia Military Institute (1995).

Brian’s major/minor are in the fields of International Politics and Comparative Politics. His research interests include the topics of conflict transformation, post conflict nation building and political stabilization.

Brian enjoys spending time with his family, weight lifting, and just about anything outdoors.
