Jessica Schoenherr entered the Ph.D. program in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University in the Fall of 2014. She received her BA from James Madison College at Michigan State University in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy. In 2011 she received her MA in political science from the University of Michigan. She spent three years working in government procurement for Hewlett-Packard before returning to school. Her field of interest is American Politicas with a focus on the American Presidency, particularly presidential war powers and presidential rhetoric. She is fascinated with the relationship between a free press and national security.
In her free time, she enjoys running. She ran her first marathon last fall and plans to run a second one in Detroit this year. My best running partners are my boyfriend and our beautiful dog Emma. Jessica is an avid hockey fan and a notably terrible cook.
