Shomari Tate

MPP Student

Shomari Tate is a spring 2017 graduate of Michigan State University. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science-Prelaw. Shomari recently began working with Vertafore, Inc. as an LRS Specialist. During his time as an undergraduate student, Shomari worked as a Student Outreach Coordinator with MSU’s Office for Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives, and also spent a a year working with the University’s football program as a Recruiting Assistant. Shomari also spent a large majority of his undergraduate career as a student activist; he has spoken on a variety of different panels that dealt with social justice. Shomari enters the MPP program in the fall of 2017. Upon graduating, Shomari plans to pursue a career in politics, and wants his platform to center around community and economic development.

In addition to being a full-time student and a full-time employee, Shomari is a fitness enthusiast. He spends most of his free time lifting weights in preparation for his first bodybuilding competition in 2018. In his free time, Shomari enjoys reading, writing stories, and cooking. Shomari is originally from Grand Rapids, MI, and hopes to complete the MPP program by the Spring of 2019.
