Tim came to MSU in Fall 2016 after receiving his B.S. in Political Science from Boise State University where he was introduced to political research in state legislative politics. During his undergrad he became a McNair Scholar where he received a grant to conduct original research examining elections in the Northwest with a focus on gender. This opportunity gave him a glimpse into academic inquiry and pushed him to take his interest in political research to the next level.
Prior to receiving his undergrad, Tim served five years on active duty in the United States Navy, and a two-year full-time religious mission. He is a first-generation college student, and was the first in his family to earn a baccalaureate degree.
Tim’s academic track is in the field of American politics with research interests more narrowly concentrated around gender and minority politics at the state and local levels.
