Zachary Coeman entered Michigan State’s Political Science Ph.D. program in the fall of 2015. He received his BA at Western Michigan University in International and Comparative Politics where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. His field of study is International Relations, with interests in conflict, human rights, and nuclear proliferation, as well as regional interests in sub-Saharan Africa and post-Soviet Eurasia. As an undergraduate, Zachary spent a semester studying at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, where his studies focused on nuclear proliferation and the growth of human rights in a globalized world. Outside of academia, Zachary is an avid history and geography buff and soccer fan. In his free time he can be most often found reading, exploring the outdoors through hiking and snowshoeing, and relaxing at home with his wife, Bethany, and dog, Pepper.
