Asia Hudson is a spring 2018 graduate of Michigan State University, where she majored in Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in Community Governance and Advocacy with a cognate in Political Science; and minor in African American and African Studies. While pursuing her undergraduate career she spent time mentoring children in the Lansing community, working as a Detroit Mayoral Office intern, and, after working closely with IPPSR and other very special professors, was able to present her own research on the effects of gentrification at the 2018 UURAF. As a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., she has dedicated herself to community service and collaborative problem-solving. Upon graduating, she took her first position as a teacher in New Orleans, LA; where she taught both primary and secondary education. Organizing and advocating for students and families in South Louisiana gave her the motivation she needed to begin the MPP Program in the fall of 2019. Her policy interests include education, mental health, and affordable housing. After graduating, Asia will be attending law school. In the future, she hopes to begin her own non-profit organization. In her spare time, Asia enjoys reading and listening to live music.
