BIOGRAPHY

Hannah Sweeney is a 2018 graduate of Saginaw Valley State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Communication. Hannah’s policy interests involve economic development, education, and women’s issues.

Prior to entering the MPP program, Hannah has had campaign experience ranging from state senate to a Campaign Finance Fellowship for a gubernatorial race. She has also held internships at the Michigan House of Representatives. She worked as a Legislative Fellow where she was an architect of a paid family leave bill proposal. Hannah has also spent time working with after school programs in the Saginaw area teaching STEM activities to students. She received a Graduate Assistantship with the Institute of Public Policy and Social Research.

Hannah held a research internship with the Michigan Education Association in the summer of 2019 working to develop her capstone project. She was also appointed to the board of the Ingham County Women’s Commission.

Upon graduating, she plans to work in government affairs and hopes to bridge the gap between elected officials and constituents on policy-making decisions.
