Ke Xia entered the PhD program in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University in the fall of 2017.  Her major is Political Philosophy and her main interests are the political and moral philosophy of 18th and 19th century, especially Jean-Jacque Rousseau.  Before coming to MSU, Ke earned her B.A. from Renmin University of China in 2010, where she majored both in management and philosophy.  After that, Ke earned an M.A. in philosophy, Renmin University, 2017.  Ke wrote her master thesis on the role of emotions in Rousseau’s political philosophy, especially on whether compassion could be regarded as the moral foundation of modern politics.  She hopes to continue her research on related topics during her Ph.D. study.

During her free time, Ke enjoys yoga, swimming, watching Hong Kong movies and traveling.
