Meet Flintern Jordyn Peterson

Jordyn Peterson was thrilled to be selected as an intern in Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office this summer. As a pre-law MSU PLS senior, she is interested in all aspects of the justice system.  

“We’ve been helping prep all the evidence in the trials. I really enjoy it, especially going to the trials,” she said.  

She’s also done research into jury selection as well as general filing and assisting Chief Bureau Prosecutor Andrea Legendre, who leads the Felony Trial Division of the Circuit Court for Genesee County. 

The Macomb resident has enjoyed living with other Flinterns this summer and getting to know other interns.  

On the job, Jordyn impressed her supervisors by jumping right into work.  

“From day one here at the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office Jordyn was thrown into trial prep for a double homicide (along with multiple other counts) trial that started the week after she arrived,” Legendre said. 

 

“Jordyn, along with two other interns, have been learning all it takes to prepare for a trial by working together to prepare exhibits, check and recheck discovery/evidence numbering and jury selection all while learning our electronic file keeping system. 

 

“Once the trial started, she was able to observe aspects of the trial by sitting in the courtroom.  Jordyn has found this process fascinating and a great learning experience. 

 

“Jordyn came to us with Family Court in mind – she is applying for law school in August - but with all the excitement of the criminal trial she is keeping an open mind as to her options. Family Court is next on her agenda to learn.  We’ve been keeping her busy and enjoy having her here.”
