BIOGRAPHY

Lilly Balding is a first-year Master of Public Policy student at Michigan State University. Lilly graduated in 2026 with her B.A. in International Relations and Military History from Aberystwyth University in Wales. Lilly wrote her undergraduate dissertation on the role of reproduction and bodily autonomy in American state security. Having spent three years studying abroad in Wales, Lilly's interests have spanned across security and nuclear policy, as well as human rights and welfare. Before beginning her B.A. program in Aberystwyth, Lilly was involved in various advocacy and voluntary groups in Michigan, she hopes to return and advance in her contributions after earning her MPP by working for an NGO, supporting safe and equitable communities across Michigan and the wider United States.
