BIOGRAPHY

My name is Maria Kokona and I'm from Wayne, Michigan and I attended Wayne Memorial High School. I am currently majoring in Political Science on the Pre-Law track, with a minor in Law, Justice, and Public policy.

I have always felt myself being drawn to immigration law and the public sentiment surrounding immigrants from a very young age. In a time of heightened discrimination towards immigrants–particularly toward minority communities–I developed a strong fascination in understanding the political and legal systems that structure these experiences. I plan to serve in public office after my immigration law career, where I aspire to advocate for minority communities and my constituents. I hope to promote equity and work to fight injustices people may experience.
