BIOGRAPHY

Yu-Hsiao Lee is a Fulbrighter who joined the department in Fall 2024. His research interests revolve around authoritarian politics, digital repression, democratic backsliding, and US-China-Taiwan relations. Prior to entering the program, Yu-Hsiao worked in Academia Sinica and the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT). Yu-Hsiao received his M.A. in Diplomacy from National Chengchi University and B.A. in Economics from National Central University. He has papers published in Taiwan Democracy Quarterly and Journal of Electoral Studies. He also co-authored a book in 2021, titled “Why and How the US Matters”, with his colleagues in US-Taiwan Watch, a 501(c)(3) NPO reporting issues on US-Taiwan-China relations.
