Michigan State University Master of Public Policy students graduate with valuable skills, strong peer connections, and experiences that will empower them to engage professionally in their communities.
Our goal is to give our students the analytic and practical tools to be leaders in their policy careers. Our program prepares students to develop, analyze, and carry out well-grounded and rigorous policies. Combining two highly ranked departments, political science and economics, the MPP program emphasizes training in policy analysis, policy feasibility, and economic and quantitative analysis. MPP graduates seek professional careers in policy analysis, program management, and policy advocacy within the public, private, or non-profit sectors.

The MPP requires 39 semester credits, including 27 credits in core courses, 6 credit hours in PPL 891- Issues in Public Policy, and 9 credit hours of policy-relevant electives.

Capstone Research Forum
The Master of Public Policy (MPP) Capstone Research Forum is held annually each spring semester. The Forum provides graduating MPP students the opportunity to showcase their scholarship before a large and diverse audience–including distinguished alumni, college and university leadership, policy practitioners, faculty advisors, family, and friends.
