Dr. Jeffrey Conroy-Krutz, Associate Professor of Political Science, will begin serving as interim chairperson starting Aug. 16, announced College of Social Science Dean Mary Finn.
Dr. Conroy-Krutz is also a core faculty member in the African Studies Center. He studies media and information, ethnicity, clientelism, electoral campaigns, and polarization in Africa, with a focus on experimental methods.
He succeeds Dr. Cory Smidt who has served as interim chair following Dr. Charles Ostrom.
"I want to thank Cory Smidt for his contributions and leadership as interim chair. Cory will be returning to his faculty position and continuing his contributions as a researcher studying American electoral and campaign politics," Dean Finn wrote.
