Political Science Study Away and Recommended Study Abroad Programs

Summer Study Abroad United Kingdom: MSU Political Science runs a study abroad program in London and Edinburgh for approximately six weeks of the summer entitled "British Politics and Society."

In this program, led by Dr. Siv Cheruvu, you will learn about British politics from the prism of London. We will discuss the topics and themes that animate contemporary politics in Britain, ranging from multiculturalism, populism, electoral reform, and inequality. The program is designed to give you a first-hand experience of these themes. We will visit the institutions that make crucial decisions, talk to the people who set the political agenda and grasp the city's diversity by traveling throughout. Apart from London, you will also have the opportunity to participate in day trips to some of the most interesting cities in the UK, such as Brighton with its role in LGBTQ activism, or Oxford, arguably the most famous university town in the world. The program will draw connections between politics and culture, and we will embrace the diversity of British culture by visiting plays, museums, football stadiums, and musicals.

Recommended semesters abroad: MSU offers many amazing study abroad opportunities. The Political Science Department strongly encourages our majors to consider the following two:

  • Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan
  • University of Mannheim in Mannheim, Germany

Both universities have strong reputations in political science and offer a great selection of courses that we can transfer to fulfill degree requirements here at Michigan State University.

 

DC and Other College of Social Science Study Away Programs

 Washington DC Semester:

Political science majors often participate in the College of Social Science's Washington DC program, which provides a wide variety of education and internship opportunities and a connection to the large Spartan alumni community in DC. The College of Social Science Semester Study Programs are also available in Hawaii, New Orleans, San Francisco, Boston, and New York.

Undergraduate
